Portland celebrated the groundbreaking of Albina One, a 94-unit affordable housing complex in North Portland designed by LEVER. The project is part of the Albina Vision Community Investment Plan initiated by Albina Vision Trust, aiming to revitalize the historically Black Albina neighborhood. The plan includes 2,000 new housing units, commercial space, a waterfront park, and cultural event spaces.

Albina One aims to provide affordable housing, particularly for those with historic ties to the area. The majority of the homes will be eligible for the city's affordable housing preference policy. In addition to housing, the project includes community rooms, an outdoor plaza with gardens and play areas. The building will feature joyful colors, locally created art panels, and murals. The Portland Opportunities Industrialization Center and Rosemary Anderson High School will offer culturally specific education and support services.

The development is a collaborative effort between Albina Vision Trust, real estate firm Edlen & Co., and general contractor Colas Construction, with Portland Public Schools also involved in supporting the Center for Black Student Excellence as part of the broader initiative. The Albina One project, costing $63.5 million, is funded by sources such as the American Rescue Plan, Hillman Family Foundations, Oregon Community Foundation, and the Portland Housing Bureau.
