In May 2023, Architectural Record was on site for breakthrough seismic testing of a 10-story wood building specimen designed by LEVER. This 112’ structure is the tallest building ever tested on a shake table earthquake simulator. The high-rise successfully withstood simulations of the 1994 Northridge, CA earthquake (6.7), and the 1999 earthquake in Chi-Chi, Taiwan (7.7) without significant structural damage.

From Architectural Record:

“Designed by LEVER Architecture, in collaboration with several university and industry partners, the structure swayed and rattled under the severe stress—but then it instantly sprang back to its original vertical position, apparently unscathed.”
