Extensive structural testing occurred during the design development phase for Framework. The testing regimen resulted in extensive collaboration between the project team, Oregon State University, and Portland State University, and was instrumental in confirming a variety of design and construction related methods and criteria. The design team successfully developed and confirmed many critical assemblies and design values pertaining to resilient, low-damage design strategies, including overall performance characteristics of Cross-Laminated Timber (CLT) panels utilized for rocking wall core walls, horizontal splice joints between core walls, shear values of panels, gravity connections, post-tensioned rod connections, and U-shaped Flexural Plate characteristics. The testing regimen resulted in all code-related approvals required to commence construction.

Full scale tests where undertaken at Portland State University to validate that the custom glulam beam-to-column connection developed for Framework could undergo the maximum anticipated seismic drift from an earthquake and remain undamaged.
